Brightening Lives: Love’s PEAK Toy Drive at Mountain Valley
Love’s PEAK, a pediatric hospice, palliative care, and grief support program at Mountain Valley, is hosting a heartwarming initiative to support children facing serious illnesses and their families.

This initiative aims to fill toy boxes that accompany team members visiting pediatric hospice patients. The idea was inspired by one of our nurse and social worker teams as they considered ways to engage a child patient as well as any siblings. These toys aren’t just for play—they’re tools for connection. The program encourages children to engage in activities during visits, fostering an environment where they feel comfortable expressing emotions or discussing their thoughts naturally to the team.
The Love’s PEAK program specializes in providing compassionate care tailored to the unique needs of children dealing with serious illnesses or loss.
By integrating play tools into care visits, the team distracts the children from “scary medical stuff” and creates opportunities for meaningful interactions, helping children navigate their experiences in a way that feels safe and approachable.
